RAF Seeks New Trainer Planes

The UK Ministry Of Defence has officially begun the search for 40-50 basic trainers that will replace their existing Shorts Tucano T1’s. The new trainers will become a part of the UK Military Flying Training System (MFTS) and bidders for the project are set to include AleniaAermacchi (M-311), Hawker Beechcraft (T-6) and Pilatus (PC-21) who will offer their respective aircraft as replacements.
In addition to the bids Shorts and Marshalls are also expected to propose a life extension and avionics upgrade for the existing Tucano T1 fleet.
